The Department has officially handed over a contractor to upgrade Social Development Service Centre Offices in Seymour. The R17.8 million project is set to run for a duration of 12 months, during which significant improvements and refurbishments will be carried out to enhance service delivery in the area.
The scope of work will include:
• Replacement of all doors and painting of Block A;
•Comprehensive repairs and upgraded of male, female rest rooms in Block B, as well as the construction of a new guard house.
• An upgrade of the waiting area, three consulting rooms, four offices, a boardroom, a kitchen, a registry, and a sick bay in Block C.
• External works will include a new paved driveway, a new entrance porch, a new refuse enclosure, the installation of new ClearVu fencing, and the demolition of the existing concrete water reservoir.
This initiative is part of the Department’s ongoing efforts to improve public service facilities and create a more efficient and welcoming environment for both staff and the community.
The project is expected to provide a boost to local employment and business opportunities during its implementation phase.
Seymour resident Nomfusi Ngcuka said: “I have been using the old office for years, and I am delighted to see the improvements coming. This new development will make accessing services much easier and more comfortable for everyone.”
