As part of a ministry programme, MEC for Public Works, Infrastructure and Human Settlements, hon Siphokazi Lusithi, accompanied by Raymond Mhlaba Local Municipality Mayor Councillor Nomhle Sango, Head of Department Phucuka Penxa and delegation conducted an oversight visit to the renovation of an old existing Department of Social Development facility to new Seymour Service Offices that will house social workers. This oversight visit comes as an urgent intervention to assess the progress and iron out bottlenecks currently experienced on site in order to fast-track the renovations while maintaining the quality of improvement works undertaken by the department.

MEC Lusithi thereafter, received a comprehensive briefing on the scope of the renovations, project progress, realistic completion date and the anticipated impact of the upgraded facility on service delivery to local communities

The delegation inspected the newly renovated sections of the Seymour Service Offices during a guided walk through the site, giving her a clear picture of the work on ground. “We need to set realistic timelines on this project, as I see that there is still immense work to be covered on site against the 75% work reported to have been already achieved”, said MEC Lusithi.

The upgraded offices are expected to provide a more conducive working environment for officials while enhancing service delivery to residents of Seymour and surrounding areas.
